Developing Proficiency through Integrated Performance Assessments

On January 19, the Confucius Institute at the University of Minnesota (CIUMN) held a professional development workshop addressing the topic of using Integrated Performance Assessment (IPA) in teaching. ┬áThe workshop was offered to Chinese language and culture teachers and was lead by Minneapolis Public School District’s Arabic and Chinese Extended (ACES) coordinator, Ayumi Stockman. More than 20 Chinese teachers representing schools of the metro area participated in the daylong workshop held at CIUMN offices on the University of Minnesota campus. Stockman brought samples of new IPA materials developed by the school district to share with participants who discussed potential IPA use in classroom and shared teaching practices and experiences.
