Two Lectures: Activity Design and Language Training in the Chinese Classroom and Cultural Immersion in Second Language Teaching

Two faculty from Capital Normal University will present lectures around topics related to Chinese language teaching. Ms. Xinxin Fang will discuss Cultural Immersion in Second Language Teaching and Ms. Xiuqin Lin will discuss Activity Design and Language Training in the Chinese Classroom.

Ms. Xinxin Fang is Associate Professor and Chair for the Department of Chinese Language at the College of International Education at Capital Normal University. Besides teaching at CNU, she has also taught Chinese as a second language at Oxford University (U.K.) and Wesleyan University (U.S.), and has served as special advisor on Chinese language and culture at Alberta Education Canada. Her research interests are language contact study, loan words study and second language teaching pedagogy. She has published one monograph and over forty academic papers.

Ms. Xiuqin Lin is Associate Dean and Associate Professor at the College of International Education at Capital Normal University. She has been teaching Chinese as a second language for over twenty years. Her research interests include second language classroom teaching study, errors study on teaching Chinese as a second language, and multi-media teaching materials study. She has taken charge of or participated in many Chinese government and Beijing government research projects, and has published over ten academic articles.
