2011 Chinese Bridge for American Schools

2011 delegation

In June 2011 the Chinese Bridge for American Schools delegation included 18 participants from Cyber Village Academy, Eastern Carver County Schools, Forest Lake Area Schools, Hopkins Public Schools, Intermediate District 287, Lakes International Language Academy, St. Cloud School District, St. Cloud State University, St. John’s Preparatory Academy, and Sauk Rapids-Rice School District.

The University of Minnesota coordinated this group of K-12 principals, school administrators, and teachers to travel to China to participate the Hanban-sponsored Chinese Bridge for American Schools. This program introduced U.S. educators to China’s education system and encouraged and supported the development of school-to-school partnerships. Minnesota educators learned about China’s education system from lectures by scholars in the field and through site visits to several schools. During the trip, U.S. educators had the chance to tour school facilities and meet principals, teachers, and students. They also had the opportunity to see some of China’s greatest attractions, like the Great Wall.
