The Confucius Institute welcomed 53 people on Thursday, October 17 for the 6th annual Minnesota Chinese Language Teachers Meeting held at the Earle Brown Heritage Center. Networking with colleagues, learning about resources available to teachers and schools were just a few of the highlights from the day. Dr. Lixing Frank Tang of New York University delivered the keynote lecture titled, "Becoming an effective teacher, a master teacher & a teacher leader." Dr. Tang discussed the ways in which to overcome the myriad challenges facing teachers today to become peak performers, leaders, and advocates for foreign language education.
Dr. Tang is the co-director of Multilingual Multicultural Studies at New York University. He has 30 years of experience in the field of TESOL/TEFL and foreign language teacher training at such prestigious institutions as the Shanghai Teacher's University, Baruch College-CUNY and NYU, as well as numerous awards and grants from the US and China alike.
