Intermediate Chinese III

Students enrolling in Intermediate III Chinese should be able to hold conversations in Chinese about the topics covered in the previous Community Chinese courses (Beginning I-III and Intermediate I-II). Students should also have a solid understanding of the Chinese character structure, key radicals and can recognize about 600 Chinese characters.

Students will continue to develop their vocabulary and sentence structures in Intermediate III class. The topics covered will include not only daily conversations, but also some semi-formal topics related to one’s community. Topics covered in this course include: shopping experiences, vacation and travel plans, occupations and career preference, and discussion of preferences of different hobbies. There is no written homework, though the instructor may request additional time outside class or provide some oral assignments.

Students who complete this level and meet all of the requirements can pass HSK-level 3 at ease. Contact the Confucius Institute for more information about registration and preparation for HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, Chinese Proficiency Exam). Students who are interested in advanced level courses should also contact the Confucius Institute for more information.
