National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y)

Highlights from the Summer 2015 Shanghai Program

Week of July 13, 2015

During this week, NSLI-Y students spent a lot of time with local Chinese students, many of whom are their host siblings. Students continue language instruction in the morning (continued Chinese study for NSLI-Y students and English study for Chinese students). After lunch, students have free time to spend together. Some of the cultural activities this week include:

This week there are program activities scheduled during the weekend. Host families have arranged a variety of activities for students. Some will go on excursions to historical towns in the outskirts of Shanghai, or outside Shanghai, some will try traditional Chinese cooking, karaoke, and some will visit more cultural places, art schools, and fun fair in Shanghai, or go to church.
