National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y)

Highlights from the Summer 2015 Shanghai Program

Week of August 3, 2015

During the week of August 3, NSLI-Y participants spent five days in Beijing where they had the opportunity to visit the Great Wall, Tian’anmen Square, the Lama Temple and the Confucius Institute Headquarters. The programming in Beijing concluded with the students participating in the HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) Chinese Proficiency Test, where they students showcased the impressive progress they made during their seven-week experience in China. Upon returning to the U.S., all NSLI-Y participants will participate in the Oral Proficiency Interview, an oral exam to test students oral Chinese proficiency.
