The Confucius Institute at the University of Minnesota welcomed 68 local and Hanban teachers from around the state to the annual Minnesota Chinese Teachers Conference on November 5, 2016.
At the event, veteran Chinese educator Lucy Lee delivered the keynote talk “Teaching Chinese, Thinking Globally”. Lucy Lee was named a finalist for ACTFL Teacher of the Year in 2012 and was named Essex County (NJ) Teacher of the Year in 2013. In her engaging talk, Lucy demonstrated how all levels of Chinese language classrooms can incorporate global perspectives with up-to-date authentic materials.
Attendees also heard from two students from University of Minnesota’s Chinese Flagship program regarding their Chinese learning experience, as well as from Flagship faculty members.
The annual Minnesota Chinese Teacher Conference brings nationally renowned Chinese educator to provide professional development opportunity to local teachers, thanks to the gracious support from Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban.
